Evaluation

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My jingle develop the conventions of a real radio show because it introduces a real guest and would work well at the beginning of a radio show. The jingle follows the genre of the programme based around the target audience with the music and instruments chosen. I believe i have met the criteria of the radio show as the specification declared but i do not belive some of it is necessary for the show its self, firstly i do not think there need to be a response from the guest and also i do not think an archive clip is necessarily important. But all in all i think this could work very well as a real radio show jingle expecially at the beginning of a show.

• How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My media product represents a particular social group because it is trying to touch people of my age, which is easier for me because i know what people like me enjoy. When radio stations like mine are created it is normally by a 30 year old man trying to make things better for people my age, though it is done with good intentions they do not always know what is best for this tricky and demanding tearget audience. I think the thing that really helped is my guest, he is a young man who is following his dreams which is what most people want in their lives!

• What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I think the kind of media institution that would distribute my show would be either something like radio 1 because it wants to appeal to the younger audience, or maybe a college or university radio station. I think this because thats the best way for young people to discover and listen to my radio product, it saves a lot of advertising aswell because these are the stations that young people listen to!

My Jingle

You have my jingle on your mac, if not it is on the computer next to the radiator and the door that doesn't work.

Opinions

I asked 3 of my class members who were not involved in my radio project what they thought of my jingle, most of them said it was a nice catchy tune. Luckily all responses where positive, but one thing that all three of them said was that the volume of each individual track was unequalised and loud. So i have started to alter the volume of certain parts, to make certain tracks stand out and take priority.

Once i have done this i will ask three other class mates to listen to it and get their opinion!

Plan

For my radio jingle i have asked a friend called Barney Orr to be the presenter for me, i asked him to do this because i think he has the right voice and sense of humour that will appeal to my target audience. For my guest i have asked a boy in my class called Joel Wroe-Johnson, Joel has been racing mini's and clio's in races for about 4 years now and has recently been sponsored, so i chose him as somebody who would appeal to young people because he has followed his dreams and found a great outcome!

The Program

The program that i am going to use is going to be one designed especially for macs called 'Garage Band'. This program has a huge amount of different instruments and voices that you can add to a musical score, it also give you the oppourtunity to compose your own pianist parts using the computer key board. This program should make it nice and easy to make my jingle as realistic and also appealing as possible!

Target Audience

The target audience for my radio station will be important to the overall outcome of the jingle, it would also depend on what radio station i would air it on, for arguement sake im just going to call it 'Radio Scott' just to make it more simple for me. My traget audience is going to be young people between the ages of 10 and 20 maybe at school or at university, talking to younger guests that will interest them. I have decided to go with this because there is a very rare amount of these stations around!
